Welcome to the 2013?Champaign-Urbana Area Summer Camps Guide! If you are looking for quality experiences for your child this summer, you?ve come to the right place. Registration for summer camps is now up and running at many organizations, although some may not have information ready yet.

About:?Summer camp at Amara will be a blend of art and yoga in a fun and relaxed environment. Art activities will be fun and open?ended. Kids learn basic yoga elements through focused breathing, play, storytelling, balance and creative visualization.?Cost: $129/week ($119/week for 2nd sibling).
Parent Comment:??Ms. Kathryn?s art classes have helped my daughter explore different kinds of art in a creative yet structured way: Lily has crafted colorful mandalas, designed and created unique dolls and stuffed animals, experimented with classic art forms such as portraiture and painting and has even learned to weave and sew. In short, Amara Yoga and Arts and Ms. Kathryn manage to balance wonderful instruction with just the right amount of freedom and play-a winning combination for my eight-year old!??? Veronica Hemrich

Dates:?Camps start the week of June 3rd and end on August 23rd. Times are Mondays, Wednesday & Fridays 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 1 p.m. ? 4 p.m.

About:?Every week during Summer we have camps available to members and non-members on Mondays, Wednesday & Fridays 9 a.m. -12 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 1pm ? 4pm. Each week we have a different theme and each day has different activities. Half way through each 3 hour camp we have a snack and craft time. The themes are Cars Planes truck and trains, X-treme sports of all sorts, Superhearo?s, Lights camera action, Secret agent gyms bond, Hip hop karate chop, The Little Gym Olympics, Barnyard Bonanza & Sky rangers. The kids have a blast!!!
Parent Comment:?I love The Little Gym camps! My favorite part is how flexible they are. You can pick any day, morning or afternoon-or both! My son loves going to camps and I love knowing that he is safe and having a great time!

Champaign Park District Camps

Dates:?Camps run from June 3 to August 9 and are available with both full and partial day options.

Champaign Park District offers a variety of summer day camps for children of all abilities ages 6 to 15.

Camps are held at a variety of locations including the Leonhard Recreation Center, Springer Cultural Center, Douglass Recreation Center and Hays Recreation Center.? Scholarships are available for families facing economic hardship. Registration begins March 15 for residents and March 25 for non residents.? Champaign County Forest Preserve camps

Ages: 3 to 12 years old
About:?What are your kids doing this summer? Have them spend it with the Champaign County Forest Preserve District. Choose from a variety of day camps at Lake of the Woods in Mahomet or Homer Lake near Homer. If they are interested in nature, want to know what it was like to live on the grand prairie, discover the world of gardening or hit the links at Lake of the Woods Golf Course then these camps are for them!

Urbana Park District
Dates:?One-week sessions that meet 8:30am to 3pm, Monday-Friday, June 3 to August 2. Extended camp is available until 5:30 p.m. for an additional fee. Earlier drop off times are available for some camps.
Ages: kindergarten through middle school
About:?Nature Day Camp, Summer Arts Camp, Sports and Aquatics Camp are offered by the Urbana Park DIstrict. Each session includes filed trips and this summer the district adds back outdoor swimming to the list of activities (at the new Crystal Lake Park Family Aquatic Center.)?Teens and middle schoolers can get involved with camp as well. Teens in Action Camp is a service learning experience. Counselors In Training volunteer time all summer and assist with camp activities.Junior Counselors learn valuable skills in this summer job.?Check the park district program guide?available from the home page?for dates, times, fees and descriptions. Early bird registration pricing going on now for all summer camps.

Tap In Leadership Academy: Summer Enrichment Program?is a multicultural six-week program. ?Housed at the McKinley Foundation on University of Illinois campus, each week, scholars explore a different culture/world area through hands-on learning facilitated by university professionals.

University of Illinois Sports Fitness Program?of The Department of Kinesiology and Community Health offers half-day and full-day enrollment in two-, four- and eight- week sessions.
